New this summer and my introduction to gwendoline riley (consequently have her other books on hold at the library). Light on plot (my kinda thing), with the story unfolding through conversations and recollections on pride/identity in a creative career, confronting the weird places the rip current of adolescence brought you now that you’re an adult yourself, and how tf you are supposed to handle the bewildering actions of aging parents (if you are). It goes deep but is also bone dry british funny.
